MAN ARRESTED FOR FIREARMS AND DRUGS OFFENCES

A man has been arrested on suspicion of firearm and drug supply offences in Tamworth.

Acting on intelligence, officers searched an address in the Glascote area yesterday (Monday 20 April).

Drugs were recovered from inside the address. 

Officers also searched an area near Silver Link Road following intelligence that a firearm may have been stored in the area.

No firearm has been recovered despite extensive searches.

A 39-year-old man, from Tamworth, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm without a certificate, possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A, possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B – cannabis, cultivate a cannabis plant and handling stolen goods.

After being questioned in custody, he has been bailed with conditions while enquiries continue.
